i always thought super mario RPG was the darkest mario to date, but i wouldn't mind a more serious mario game, it would be a great change of pace. what i want more though is a mario game that has the same platformin gameplay, but also adds in a good combat system, kinda like wario world for GC but with platformin like in mario 64, sunshine and galaxy.

Omfg i know someone already brought this up, but right away i was like PLAY SUPER MARIO SUNSHINE rofl. That was the almost the ENTIRE point of that whole game, how could you miss that? But Mario isn't meant to be dark, it just isn't. If it became dark, it would do nothing but lose a HUGE sum of money from casual gamers and kids who like mario.
