Pre-ordering Games

Post by Mark_Chaos on Wed Sep 02, 2009 4:09 pm

Basically, do you pre-order games or just buy them at the store?

I pre-order games I really want, such as MadWorld, Brawl, The Conduit, Pokemon Pearl, etc.

I pre-ordered Brawl, the DSi and the GameboySP. I got Mario Kart, Metroid Prime 3 and Super Paper Mario the day it came out.
I pre-order when I can though.

I pre-order games that I really want or games that I know will sell out like Brawl. I dont reserve though. I have been screwed enough by gamestop. But I do pre-order from amazon.

I only pre-order games I REALLY want; otherwise, I wait for the price to come down and buy them on Amazon.com. I pre-ordered Pokemon Pearl, The Conduit, and the InuYasha game for the DS, but those are the only ones I've ever pre-ordered, and the only game in the near future I plan to pre-order is Starcraft 2.

I'm on the other end of the spectrum. I wear my "eye patch" proudly but I do tend to preorder stuff so that a copy gets to the local store then I take that 5 dollars and

a) put it on another game to guarantee that the new game gets to this area

or

b) buy an accessory

I might be the scurge of the internet but I still have some "moral rules". I limit who I help with such "activities" and I never "download" the DLC for any game. I rather support the developer by "buying" their DLC.

But yes, I do the same. If it has special content that can only be obtained by preordering I do preorder them.

I RARELY preorder games. This is only if the preorder greatly benefits me or if the game is extremely popular. Cases like this are Brawl and The Conduit. Probably the only two games i've preordered in the past 2-3 years.

For me, pre-ordering is a community service. Because there are a lot of good Wii games that get overlooked, I pre-order to make sure that someone in my area gets to experience a cool game that otherwise would not make it to that store. I DL my games so either way, I don't mind giving up my pre-ordered copy to someone willing to buy it. I just want someone to experience that game.

ya i dont see a point unless itll be sold out every where lol. Funny story when i pre orrdered brawl me and my friend ordered at two different EBgames in my town. I went to the small store he went to the one in them mall we got our copies but then he told me as everyone was in line a guy from one of the stores zellers or super store in the mall came over to my friend and everyone it the line and asked if they were waiting for brawl. turns out the had about 50 copies of brawl and no one knew they carried it so no one left the line because they all pre ordered it

Same here. Games that don't have content I either buy a little later, or wait until Christmas.
